Ok, my question is about my Altieri case cover. I bought it from someone on clarinet pages, but it has a smell. Not a bad smell! Just a different scent than I would prefer.
I washed it in the washer in cold water, inside out, on gentle. Is that safe, first of all? But the smell hasn't gone away...
And, does anyone think dry cleaning is safe? And would it be effective?
I just don't want to mess up my new, super case cover!

There is a product called "Shout" that will remove just about any odor from just about any fabric. It's a spray, it's cheap and it won't harm the material.

Spray generous amounts of Extra Strength Fabreeze on the outside & inside. Place it outside to (thoroughly) dry. If you have a sheepskin-like interior (& only if necessary - "over-washing" is not a good idea) wash in woolite afterward. The outside nylon covering can be a problem, too. Recently, we had a Cavallaro Cover that smelled very, very badly of smoke it was incredible. The above-siggested treatment didn't get this one. We ended up applying Resolve Stain Remover to the Nylon Outer Covering & wiped dry after letting it sit (wet) over night. The Resolve had no effect on color, etc. - & no fading. It got rid of the smoke smell. best, mw
