Here's one for those who are into bore specs. I have a LL purchased in June of 1964 and have enjoyed playing it for years. It works particularly well with a plain old Zinner blank for a mouthpiece. Lately I've been interested in bore sizes and how they affect playing characteristics so last week while visiting a clarinet playing friend, who also happens to reload his own amunition for shooting competition and has all the appropriate measuring devices, mic'ed the bores of several clarinets. When I did the LL both ends of the upper joint miced out at .574. My friend checked my measurements and came up with the same number. The published figure for the LL is .582, but mine is a straight tubed upper joint at .574. We also miced a brand new R-13 and the center joint was .574 with a reverse taper and an old Bundy and its center joint was .590 as published. Did Leblanc change its design somewhere during the production life of the horn, do I have a lemon(that works very well , thank you) or is there another wrinkle to establishing the published bore size that I'm not aware of?

Lon...I have a Leblanc LL S/N 23xxx, manufactured in 1964 also (according to Leblanc). My measurements on its bore are 0.583", close to the published value. There does seem to be something unusual with yours! Have you approached Leblanc to throw any light on this anomaly?
