Hi, I wondering what kind of neck strap is best to use with an e-flat clarinet. Thanks.

Little Effer? Or BIG Effer? If Eb Alto, I use Cordera.

Maybe a Ray Hyman Supersling. It's wider than most straps so it doesn't cut into your neck.

I used to use neckstraps on both Bb/A and Eb clarinet, and a teacher told me to get rid of them. My playing has been better without them. Just something for you to think about...

Aussie Nick,
Every time I have seen Riccardo Morales perform in person (on standard Bb/A clarinets), he has used a BG neck strap. He seems to play pretty damn well!
So, if you like using a neckstrap, why not? I think the BG is the best I've seen for the Bb/A clarinet...I like the one with the bungie/nylon cord, as it has some give in the tension.
However, I would think the small Eb clarinet shouldn't be too heavy for anyone but a young child; but if it helps....

I use a strap from sam ash that originally was for my alto... This is on my Bb I plan on having the hooked added to the Eb next time it's in the shop... I don't really think it necesarily has anything to do w/ the weight of the clarinet... if someone has something wrong w/ there wrist or hand the amount of weight there is often irrelavent and the strap is almost a necesity... i've had both teachers that use and don't use straps both play very well... i also play w/ a wrist brace... so IMO the stuff about u playing better w/o a strap is purely in your head and has no real truth aside from that... assuming there are no other factors

Bnatural, what kind (type, specs, price, etc.) wrist brace.
I had to get rid of my C Clarinet, am pondering selling my 2 Bb's and I use a strap (Cordera) on my Alto, Bass and C-Melody Sax. BUT, I still have a major problem on certain days with my right hand and wrist. (RA). Pills don't help and rubs get in your eyes and keys. So a wrist brace is the next step or quit---which I ain't about to do!

Bob A...
You might consider the Phred support. I do not have the website handy, but it's a prop that connects to your thumbrest, and an adjustable "stick" that you put on your chair between your legs. Unfortunately it doesn't work well for standing gigs...

I use a brace that I bought at a medical supply store... luckily i was diagnosed with a wrist problem so insurance covered it... I wasn't planning on shelling out the $50... i'm a teenager so since i pay for my music stuff a weekend job wasn't gonna cut that.... so i would suggest going to any doctor and getting him to say you have a repetitive strain injury or something... even if just to avoid the cost of the brace and they wear out so you will need a new one in about a year and a half i would guess.... needless to say it gets expensive... I believe the brand was OPS but i'm sure that there are many equivalents... I also was using one from either walmart or kmart for a while... but i am a big guy so it didn't fit... they seemed to work well enough for playing purposes though... just weren't big enough... let me no if u have anymore questions

Just out of curiousity, does anyone think/know if this habit of Mr. Morales developed because he was playing such long operas? I just thought that he certainly had a great reason to use them if he had to perform for hours and hours straight and I wondered if that's the reason he adopted them or if he had used them before also.
I know he's not the only one. I seem to remember something about the NY Philharmonic asst. principle using one also. But I was just curious as to whether this may have influenced his decision to use one.

maybe Morales uses a neck strap because he plays Selmer Recitals, which are relatively heavy. Plus, his have the extra low F vent key, which adds extra metal to the weight
just speculating
