I'm wondering how many ligatures are acutally interchangable between instruments.
I'm currently using my clarinet Vandoren Optimum on both my clarinet and alto saxophone mouthpieces. My alto mouthpiece is a Selmer C*. I also found out today that my Harrison ligature, which I purchased for my saxophone in the early 90's, fits my clarinet mouthpieces.
Are there any other ligatures in today's market that fit both Bb clarinet and alto saxophone mouthpieces (mainly alto C*)?

You have to take into account WHICH mouthpieces. For instance, not even that many clarinet ligatures will fit my Gigliotti P mouthpiece because it is so wide. And if you look at sax mouthpieces, they can range from what I lovingly refer to as "fat" (most of the hard rubber/plastic ones I've seen) to "skinny" (most metal mouthpeices I've seen). So you can match almost any ligature from a clarinet to a "skinny" mouthpiece, and some ligatures that work well on the fat clarinet mpcs, will work well on the fat or skinny sax ones (I believe my FL lig fits both my instruments mouthpieces).
So it's all sort just "luck of the draw" as to which mouthpieces you pick and which ligature you choose! I for one wouldn't want to try to put any clarinet lig on a barry sax MP though . . .

The Velcro I sometimes use will fit pretty much anything (including that skinny Santy Runyon "Spoiler"). Nice lig, too.
