I have a Leblanc III that my son played 15 years ago. It needs an overhaul, I am sure. Does it have any value at this time?

Are there any other markings on the instrument? Do you know the approximate age (i.e. was it new 15 years ago or was it used)?
What model is it? What material?

On further exam I find a "6" on the logo along with Paris and France. Apparently the III was only part of the logo. The serial # is 22888. It was purchased from another student about around 1969. It is wood.

Sherrill: I am happy to hear someone else has a Symphony 3. I bought mine in 1964 and the love affair has continued to this day. At that time, it was the top of the line of LeBlancs, and was used by top pros wanting, what they said, was a darker sound than Selmer. Takes yer choce. I don't know much about prices, but I have been offered $800. I think that is high, but I'm not selling. Keep posting and let me know what you do.

Note that Sherril's instrument is NOT a Symphony III or it would include the word Symphony on the instrument. If you look closely at Leblanc's logo, you will see that the bottom part looks like but is not the Roman numeral III on their line of professional instruments regardless of model.
It is probable that Sherril has something like the LL model or 1176 model, which I believe, had only the Leblanc logo without a model name on it. It too is a professional grade instrument.
Note: I own a Leblanc Symphonie II by the way (they switched from the French spelling to English spelling with the Symphony III).

You prob. are reading the posts under LeBlanc L7 -Ken- above and below this, I just wish to call those discussions to your attention since they may relate to your questions. I just ran on to an old LeB brochure with some description of the Symp IE[Dee] 3[not III] which claims new "shape" and "taper" of bore and new tone hole size and undercutting and the usual superlatives! It also describes the Dynamic 2. It appears to me that tracking down your LeB by serial no. is your best bet, as Dee points out they used many model names and no's, of which I know a few also. Both gleblanc and Tom Ridenour have web-sites, which might help. Interesting isnt it, Don

Howdy. I'm holding a Leblanc Symphonie (not Symphony) 3 (not III).
Perhaps they made more than one configuration of this instrument.
