Does anyone know of good recordings of: Brahms Sonata No. 1, "Time Pieces" by Muczynski, "Capriccio" for solo clar in a by Heinrich Sutermeister, and rossini quartets?

David Shifrin plays a nice Brahms. I think the Brahms has been discussed (unless we were talking of Schumann, on the same disc)... do a search.

There are many good recordings of the Brahms Sonatas. I would agree with Alex about the Shifrin. It is near the top of my list. I also like the recordings by Richard Stoltzman (RCA) and Jonathan Cohler (BBC Classics). I have a recording by Stanley Drucker but I haven't listened to it yet.
Muczynski and Sutermeister are harder to come by. The definitive Muczynski is probably the recording with Mitchell Lurie (on Crystal) accompanied by the composer. Chuck West has a more recent recording (Klavier) and, IMO, he is worth listening to. For Sutermeister, there are recordings by Karl Leister and David Howard.

I don't think I am familiar with the Rossini quartets.

Rossini Quartets have been recorded by Dieter Kloecker.... don't know the label or any details, sorry

Thea King is not my favorite player, but her recordings of the Brahms Sonatas are excellent -- right down the middle interpretively. Kalmen Berkes also has a fine version on Naxos. He's an important player nobody seems to know about.

If memory serves, Ensemble Wien-Berlin has a very nice rendition of the Rossini qtets. On Sony Classical perhaps?

Harold Wright's first recordings of the Brahms are the best in league...although I may be slightly biased it is a great sense
of ensemble and drama that gives this interpretations it's edge
and feeling of organicness.
