Well, for those that haven't read the other post on TR147, I ordered a TR147 last week and expected it Friday. It didn't show - the PostalMart that Mr. Ridenour dropped it off at said that UPS lost it.
UPS now claims, this fine Monday, that they actually never received it - it wasn't "scanned in", and even if the driver had failed to scan it in at pick-up, it would have been scanned somewhere along the way. Because they have absolutely no record, besides the shipment order from Mr. Ridenour's computer, that they don't have it. So, it's a he said, she said, situation.
The owner of PM, once he found out that his insurance will have to cover it, claims that it is possible that someone walked in the store and carried it off. His response, "it's insured....., so reorder!"
At any rate, at this point it looks like it might have been stolen? I've sent a notice to Ebay and was looking around on the web today to see if someone is trying to unload one. I also called a few reputable dealers in Texas (PM & Mr. Ridenour's location) to let them know if someone tries to sell them one.
Thought I'd post it here too.....
Wouldn't it just be amazing if it "turned up" somewhere at the PM? I hate to think foul play, but it smells a little fishy and not on Mr. Ridenour's end.
And, I feel sorry for the hassle that Mr. Ridenour has to go through to get reimbursed from the PM store (because he's the one that will ultimately have to file the claim), as well as re-ship the goods to me.

Follow up - a watched pot never boils.
Just when I truly thought, as you can tell from my above post, that the clarinet was posted on Ebay or some other auction site, it arrived.
The address was still affixed, so they were able to deliver it (albeit 4 days late), but the tracking label had come off the box which is why they didn't show it being scanned anywhere along route.
It's very bizarre.....So, the lesson is, when you have UPS or Fedex pick up a package, make sure that you watch them scan it before they put it on their truck. Or else, they are not liable for it if it is indeed lost and you eat the cost or replacing it.
I sit here happy with fingers that hurt and a bottom lip that is numb because I've been practicing, practicing, practicing.... my poor hubby is starving because I cannot seem to put this thing down. It sounds beautiful and has very full, round tones. Almost makes me sound like a professional...(hee hee).
I couldn't be more thrilled.

Excellent! Well, that makes for a nice conversational UPS story anyways! And in the end it turned out ok, so that's good. Don't forget to give us your full review on the other thread when you've had some time to play around with it.

Wow, bet you were relieved, as was TR.
Reminds me of when I bought my used R-13 last summer from out of state (not through eBay, though). The seller was very responsive to all my questions and gave me all the info I could hope for. We agreed on a price and other details, I sent the money, he emailed back saying the horn was on its way via FedEx and would arrive the following Saturday. But the tracking number he gave me wouldn't work. I emailed back asking for a corrected number, but never got a response. I refrained from panicking, emailed him again, still no response. That's when the nerves started.
When the delivery date arrived, I climbed the walls waiting for the FedEx truck -- I mowed the yard and did all kinds of things to give me a reason to be outside to wait for the truck. The hours came and went, and after biting all my nails and researching all the customer complaint options I had with the MasterCard people, I got in the car to run some errands and stew in peace. But when I got back home, the box was a-waitin' for me in my kitchen. I was so relieved I told my wife, "Right now, I think I love this box more than I love you." And it played just as well as advertised, the first R-13 I've played that has that "alive" feel and sound the Buffet mafia raves about.
Turned out the seller was moving; he'd just graduated college and used the money to finance his move -- and yes, he finally answered my emails when he could.

Thanks - I LOVE it!!!!! My lip still hurts today from playing around with it so much last night. The only thing that I find awkward are the placement of a few keys. Although, I am sure I will get used to it - it's supposed to be more ergonomically correct.
If anyone wants a brochure, let me know; I got about 5 of them with the clarinet.
I think that this clarinet is being marketed as a student clarinet, although I do not know that I would pay this much for one for my child to play unless they KNEW that this is really what they wanted to do. Children are fickle - I know I was.
I've not played with the reed finishing system. But TR included a reed that had been finished and I hope that I am able to use it; it sounded great.
And Mark C - thanks for updating the subject line to read "(not)"....

Yes, I keep accidentally hitting it and going into another octave - not good.
The only cognitive dissonance that I have is wondering if I should have paid a little more for the Leblanc? But then again, I don't want to have to polish any silver and I don't want to worry about wood splitting.

Well, all I know is that a person from this BB has an Opus and a 147 and says the 147 plays almost as good as the Opus.
I know Tom says his own 147 plays better than any Buffet R-13 he's ever played. {I know of course he's going to say that; but, I honestly don't believe he's that blantant a liar }
Also, Tom exclusively plays his own 147. I really don't think he'd do that if he didn't believe it was at least up there with the Big Boys. It just doesn't seem to make sense to me that he, a professional, would play anything less than a high quality instrument. That's why he made the thing in the first place.
Enjoy it. You'll not be disappointed.
