I'm seriously thinking of buying a pair of Stephen Fox Eb and D clarinets. I've been in touch with him and I'll get a chance to try one when he comes to Scandinavia next August. I've also been in touch with Ms. Laura DeLuca of the Seattle Symphony who plays one on a regular basis. I got her opinion that was basically positive about sound, intonation and other essential factors.
Does anybody else on this board ever try one, heard anything from someone who tried one or else have an opinion I would be curious to know.

Stephen is serious, scrupulous and will not be rushed.
He will not release an instrument below his high standards, so the wait involves his satisfaction about the work he has done.
He's a terrific man, and very busy with a teaching gig through the long Ontario Winters. Perhaps if you hint that you are a Maple Leaf fan, he may bump you up in the delivery line...

I've played his reform-Boehm clarinet in Cocobolo (B-flat) and it was
glorious... I just don't have that kind of scratch for a horn.
Listen to his advice about mouthpiece selection, it really helped me to get to my sound, after a long search!

True ... I'm willing to wait patiently for perfection, your other option is to buy a mass produced clarinet like a Buffet.
Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.
