Anyone know of any classical recordings with Paquito on clarinet? I have the CD titled "The Clarinetist" which is close (I honestly don't know what to describe it as . . . seems like a mix of classical/jazz). When I checked his website's discography I saw plenty of jazz CDs but nothing that was classical (unless I missed it). Thanks all. As I listen to his playing I find that I really REALLY like his sound and want to hear him play some classical stuff.

I don't know if Paquito has any strictly-classical recordings out, but on many of his 'jazz' CDs you'll find a piece or two that really is a classical piece for unaccompanied clarinet, or a duet with guitar, that sort of thing. And I know he's written at least one classical piece for clarinet chamber group, having played it in our clarinet choir last year. Why not just buy the 'jazz' CDs and get the classical stuff that comes with it as a free bonus? His jazz work is marvelous in and of itself.

Its been some time ago, several months?, that our Pittsburg, KS, NPR/FM station, KRPS, likely on Perf Today, played several pieces, with/?by? D'Rivera, Yo Yo Ma et al, of S Amer [Brazil] "classical" jazz which impressed me greatly. I have not looked for CD's of it, but will now at our local Hastings, Wal Mart etc, and will report if found. You could, I will, ask KRPS, as a contributer, we chat occasionally, requesting a variety of good music. More research, I guess. Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

Thanks guys. I wasn't sure if he had one out yet or not. Like I said, I realized that in the CD called "The Clarinetist", it's pretty close to classical (perhaps this is the one you're thinking of Don? It certainly has much cello in it). I'll contact KRPS and see what else. I just love his sound and was wondering what his interpretation on certain "landmark" pieces would sound like if there were recordings out there. Thanks.

GBK,
I've been trying to locate that CD for months (We're performing the Danzon this Wednesday night on a faculty recital here at Cal State San Bernardino).
Anyway, I've had the "search for used" going for months at that site (and many others) with no luck. Anybody have it or a site that it's in stock - let me know.
Thanx!
