Buffet Vintage R13 Bb Clarinet with gold plated keys?

Does Buffet make their Vintage R13 Bb with gold plated keys, rather than silver plated keys? WWBW doesn't advertise one... Perhaps they don't exist. I'm a HS student looking into buying "The Clarinet of my Dreams." Which includes Gold keys, because it's a little more 'unique'. (It's time to retire my old B&H Edgware.) If it is available, where, and how much? If not, what are some other clarinets that come with this key plating, and similar features to the Vintage R13? Is the R13 even worth buying? Help!

I don't know if the R13 is available in gold. I don't think so. I know the Elite has gold plated posts. You can always have the keys plated in gold after you buy the clarinet. The only gold plated clarinet that I know of off the bat (that is any good) is the Leblanc Pete Fountain model. But that's quite a difference from a vintage R13 in terms of bore dimensions and overall feel I'm sure. Go to the boosey/hawkes website (whatever it happens to be nowadays since they change it every year it seems![mad]) and shoot them an email as to whether it's available.

I have seen a couple of older R13's probably from the late 70's which had gold plated keys and unstained bodies out of thhe factory. A couple of guys here in Sydney have them and they were bought as is. It is probably an option available if you are willing to pay, like everything else.

I have a Vintage R-13 in silver. It's great and plays very well for me. I think there are clarinet repairmen/technicians that could plate them into gold if you really wanted.

Like Mark said, if you're willing to pay for it, it's probably available. However I would never choose a clarinet based on it's plating of the keys. If you really want it, go and find the clarinet that sounds and feels the best to you. Make sure the sound the instrument can produce is what you want. THEN send it somewhere to get plated.
