Hello all! As many of you might have read in my previous post I am picking up the clarinet again after about 5 years. I have one reed that came with my clarinet, but I need to purchase some others. This is where my problem comes in for the life of me I cannot remember what brand I was using. I was curious to know what you all use and what your recommendations are.
Thanks in advance!

As a new user, you need to become familiar with the "search" feature of the Bulletin Board, which allows you access to all useful posts of the past (something like 150,000 of them).
Click on search under the head of this page, and you can enter a desired topic. For reeds, I would not be surprised if you find 10,000 posts. And every time the topic is repeated, they all look about the same.
Be sopecific on searching, and you may get a specific answer to your question.
Regards,
John

JMcAulay is absolutely correct.
The search feature on this site is a very valuable tool and there is a tremendous amount of thoughtful and helpful information contained in the archives. A good deal of it is just as relevant today as it was 4 years ago when first posted.
I am slowing wading through all of the archives and discarding the postings which are no longer pertinent. I am often surprised at how informative much of it (still) is.
Take it from me, after already having read (to this date) thousands of postings, this is a resource which, especially for common questions, should always be consulted first...GBK

Mitchell Lurie Premium is what I've found to be most consistent.....also an off the wall brand known as PHAT reeds......
e-mail me for more on those....but bottom line is....any reed can be "worked" to work for you....it's just how much time do you want to spend "playin' the reed" as opposed to "playin' the horn"?

How long have you been playing clarinet before you stopped playing? I'd probably still stick with 2 or 2.5 for a bit before getting into higher strengths even if you WERE a very good player because your muscles wouldn't be used to it. Hope that helped. :D
