Hi, my grandmother gave me my grandfather's clarinet when he passed away. The brand is "Robert Thibaud" and "Paris" is written beneath the brand name with a little logo that I think is the letter T overlapping the letter R.
I have set up a little page with photos at the following address:

I was wondering:
1- Is this a quality instrument?
2- How much is it worth? (I'm not selling it, sorry)
3- Is it scarce? (google didn't return anything)
4- Any additional information appreciated

Have you searched here yet? I think it is one of the names that comes up on eBay frequently and is at least mentioned here.

ebay didn't return any instruments for thibaud and this site returned only 2 different main threads, but didn't have any valuable information (only saying that they were possibly well buit instruments)

As I recall, the Thibaud name was on oboes and english horns marketed in the 50s and 60s or so. A friend has an english horn which plays quite well. My guess is that it is an intermediate level instrument which may have been made in the home shops by persons who had regular jobs in the larger instrument factories. This class of instrument seems to not have a lot of dollar value as there are so many instruments on the market now, especially from China. It may play well, however. Good luck!
