After using the B40 for quite a time I have begun to find it far too resistant- and went back to my old Chedeville in the interim.
In the time since i have just received a David Hite D and find it plays very much like my old Ched. Except it has alot more ring and pureness in the sound. (Possibly needs refacing)
I like the Hite so much this is going to be my piece of choice. The sound is full and resonat with great tuning in the intervals. I also love the flexibvility the Hite has...anyone out there share these feelings on the Hite D facing?

I agree with your findings on the Hite D. I liked it second only to the Lomax A3. Anyway it is very good.

The David Hite mouthpieces do play very nicely with all of the characteristics you mention. He does very nice work.

Personally I dislike all vandoren mouthpieces with the exception of the M15 and the M30 13 which I use and find to be the best mouthpiece ever. I like the hite's but I feel like there is something the m30 that makes it just the greatest mouthpiece to use.

What is the difference between the D and H models? I am trying them both now, and I'm finding the D takes a slightly softer reed than the H which would make the D more open?

David -- what do you mean by resistant? i thought the whole point of the B40 was to be able to play softer reeds and get a full sound. What reeds are you using?

The M30 has a rather long facing, and wide tip rail, combined with a medium tip opening... it seems very reed friendly.
I suppose this is because the reed has a more gradual curve to follow?
Anyway, I like mine and it was fine out of the box.
(Not bad for fiddy-five bux.)
