How do you pronounce Jon Manasse's last name? Is it "mu-NASS" or "mu-NASS-ee" or what?
I was talking with a local clarinet professor last night about him, and he pronounced it "mu-NASS-ee" a couple of times. I always thought it was "mu-NASS." He's heard him live before and I haven't, so perhaps he knows best.
Much obliged to anyone who can set me right.

Is it "mu-NASS" or "mu-NASS-ee" or what?
Jon pronounces his name:
"ma-NASS-ee"
I'd give you his phone# here in NYC, but it's not allowed on the BB.
Call Local 802 AFM in NYC, for the #, or look it up. His phone answering machine has him pronouncing his own name quite well.

I still am awed at how accessable professional clarinetists (and probably other musicians too, though I don't know as well as clarinetists) are. I highly doubt that anyone who wanted to talk to a professional baseball player or pop singer would be able to simply "look up the number". And I'm sure many of them don't have available email addresses either. I am just so amazed that, should I ever have the need to, I could simply shoot an email over to Paquito D'Rivera, or leave Jon "ma-NASS-ee" a message on his answering machine and that these people might (and judging from the nice things I hear) probably will contact me back! I've already been able to contact Gregory Smith (once accidentally on his home, personal line instead of his business line. That was a bit of an awkward situation, however with an apology he was very forgiving).
I just needed to say that after you suggested looking up the number. Even though I haven't had the need, it's comforting to know that help and advice is so readily available from any level clarinetist that I may need it from. (This goes for BBoard too!)

Thanks, JJM. But I think I'll pass on the personal call. I'm a fan but don't want to be a stalker.
I was waiting for some smarty to say it's pronounced "Jon."
Don't know why this reminds me of my friend Nestor, who in college DJ'd at the school radio station and called himself "Nestor Kostner" on the air (not his real last name). A listener phoned in asking if that was a made-up name. When my friend said it indeed was made up, the caller replied, "I thought so -- where'd you come up with a name like Nestor?
