Looking for a Vito Alto neck piece
Author: magritte
Date:   2004-01-20 01:23

I bought a bargain Vito alto in good shape, but missing the neck. Does anyone have an old alto neck laying around. Where would I look for such a part?

Many thanks,
magritte

Any Leblanc dealer should be able to get one for you. The Vito bass is a model share with Yamaha an maybe the alto is also a model share in which case you could get a replacement from Yamaha. Both will take time and cost money. You could try Ferree's and advertise that you are looking for a neck.

Good advice, BobD, it may be cheaper to buy a [whole] junker than to buy a new neck, However make sure it is correct length and fits. Most repair shops have junkers available, ask around. Thats what I'm doing for friends, does anyone have a junker Linton [Malerne? Conn?] hard rubber bass clar vintage of the 60's, from which we can buy a [lost] key?? TKS, Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

You'd have had to pay very little indeed for any horn without a neck to be a qualified 'deal'Don Berger wrote:

Yes, well it may turn out to be a mistake, but I doubt it. I paid $66 for a re-padded Vito Alto clarinet in very good playing condition except the neck is missing. I think it is only a matter of time until I find a trashed Vito with a usable neck. Lots of them come out of public schools. I'm hoping some band director or repair guy on the list will remember that he has one in his parts bin. Since a Vito Alto lists for nearly $1600, it may turn out to be a great deal. Or, maybe not.

The 2002 Leblanc Accessories catalog lists Yanagasawa neck pipes of three lacquer finish types at $248 list. You could look at the Leblanc site www.gleblanc.com or email them at gleblanc@gleblanc.com for information, giving the serial number of your instrument. Good luck!
