Hello,
I'm looking for information regarding some older Vandoren mouthpiece facings. In particular, the following models: 11.6, 55, and 66. Can anyone enlighten me as to the tip openings and facing lengths of these mouthpieces? Thanks much,

Snowy... The link you suggest is merely the current Vandoren facing chart. The 55 and 66 are not listed.
Vinq...Both the 55 and (I believe) 66 models date from the 1970's. At one time I owned a Vandoren 55 (since sold) and if I remember correctly it was a pretty open mouthpiece with a medium long facing (20 or 21mm?). My guess (and we know what those are worth) would be that the tip opening was close to the present day B45Lyre (1.27mm). I also remember that it had very thin rails.
The Vandoren 55 was actually a pretty decent facing and I wouldn't mind finding one again...GBK

I have an old Vandoren mouthpiece chart that shows the 55 and 66 as having the most open tips except for the 5JB (with the 66 more open than the 55). As to the length of the lay, the 55 is the shortest of all and the 66 the longest of all their mouthpieces and next beyond the B45.

My IMS catalog seems to have the most complete info for mp comparisons. See the charts and the Vandoren descriptions . I have an 11.6 which I like for general/classic playing, others [?wider/longer?] for jazz. Don
Thanx, Mark, Don
