Thought I'd share something that made me smile this evening.
Somehow my 10 year old pupil convinced me to let him play through the piece we'd spent the whole lesson on using my clarinet - a Yamaha SE. When he finished he smuggly turned round and told me how much better it sounded than his Buffet B12 and described exactly which parts of the keywork he found easier to use. He then informed me that 'Yamaha make better clarinets than Buffet!' I did suggest that it wasn't a fair comparison but he stuck to his statement. He did then state that 'their trumpets are rubbish though' which does imply that whilst the Buffet maffia haven't got him the Bach Strad trumpet maffia may have :-)

Ask him what he thinks of Yamaha pianos.
See if the Steinway mafia has also gotten to him...GBK

Some of my first music lessons were on a Yamaha recorder...

Ask about motorcycles. The Harley gang might be willing to discuss the topic, perhaps with clubs and chains.

From the BMW crowd, at least you won't be attacked with an old chain. A worm gear, maybe....
