I stumbled upon an interesting website titled "The Mozart Effect". It's a bunch of links to articles written about music. Varied subjects. Just wanted to share it.

I actually did a detailed research report on the Mozart report at the end of the previous school year. I looked over the web for about a week and from what I remember, that site is the most comprehensive of them all. It's a very nice and important resource.

While pregnant with my son (now five), I continued to play until a few weeks before he was born. While playing in the pit orchestra of Music Man no sooner would we strike up the overture that he would start to move. He is very fascinated when I tell him this and we have called it the cha cha dance. He has come up with his own little dance to demonstrate.

His favorite song today? He loves "The Eagles" and is especially fond of their newer stuff...."Get Over It" and "There's a Hole in the World Tonight." He has this sort of scratchy sounding little voice and it is the cutest thing I have ever heard.

Will he be a musician? I think I'd prefer he wanted to do something practical like be a plumber.

He is very bright and if music and memory are linked he remembers everything that has ever been said to him. Time to be careful though. You know how everything is packaged so that you need a tool, or as my husband saids an atomic warhead to open things? The other day my son was trying to open a toy and said, "I need a freaking tool to get this open."

Happy New Year my friends,
Jean

Jean's story reminds me of an acquaintance here who went into labor during a gig. She finished playing then went to the hospital.

By the way, she plays ACCORDION...LOL!

Clarinetmama,

Uh oh. Good thing he has so far only demonstrated his knowledge of "freaking" as opposed to other adjectives that could be a little worse! But don't forget that you can be a plumber AND a musician in your spare time! So don't count it out!
