Or do some users wax the bore of their clarinets ?

I've only heard of "oiling" the bore. Maybe this is the phrase that the people who grew up in the 80's in california use? Similar to "tubular" (for really neat) and "shooting the curl" (surfing)?
Honestly though, I have never heard of this phrase before. Never. Why do you ask? Did someone recommend you get that done?

Shooting the curl? That's a new one for me, an early-'80s-born Southern Californian. Even tubular was in very limited use, though we heard it plenty on TV.

I was going by "Ninja Turtles" which means my TV is the closest to California that I've come to. Sorry. But I seriously have never heard of waxing anything on the clarinet. With the exception of using wax floss if your tenon cork has come undone and you need a quick fix in the pit.

Waxing the body of the clarinet is a routine part of an overhaul. I've seen different types of waxes used. The Dr.'s Product wax is a good one that I use as well as the good 'ole standby, bees wax. I do not wax the bore but there may be others that do. Applying boiled linseed oil to the bore of the bassoon is part of the overhaul for that particular instrument. However the bassoon is made from very different type of wood.

I was talking to someone in the industry and he mentioned "waxing the bore". I hadn't heard this before and didn't want to appear too ignorant so I didn't ask any questions.
I may try this on some old clarinets with ruff bores to see what effects (if any) it will have.

Personally I have never used any kind of "wax" on any clarinet bore but I have used beeswax and carnauba wax on the exterior. I have even tried beeswax on the flat side of reeds with varying results....but I don't recommend it. Recorders may have waxes used in their bores and one can imagine that they have been tried on clarinets. Personally I'd stay with bore oil on a clarinet.
