So what clarinet-related things did you all get for Christmas then?
I got the Rose studies, Baermann III, a Music Minus One CD (Weber Grand Duo & Baermann Adagio), some boxes of reeds, and I have to include my lovely 'new' ebay Imperial 926 and Buffet E13 A, which both arrived a few days ago and have well exceeded my expectations!
I've had a brilliantly clarinettish Christmas fiddling with all my new toys. Hope you have too with yours!
Happy Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone,
Jo

I got a saxophone stand with a clarinet peg on it and a little model of a man playing the clarinet. I also received a few CDs of clarinet and saxophone music. This hasn't been a particularly musical Christmas. I usually get mountains of musical accessories. Actually, Dad got a Christmas bonus which he is planning to buy me a saxophone with so I guess I can call that a Christmas present even though I don't have it yet!
And may I take this oppurtunity to wish everyone a very Happy New Year.

Happy Holidays

I got the latest update of Finale (2004) and a vintage sax mouthpiece. My husband has a project on the lathe making a combo clarinet and flute stand. It's not done yet, but soon.

I didn't reckon I was going to get no clarinet presents so I pre-emptively gave myself a new pomarico mouthpiece. Also a few days before Christmas I come across a good deal on a little red convertible, which I also pre-emptively bought (to go to band practice in, you know).

I have been purchasing and testing tons of christmas clarinet goodies. I'm not quite finished testing and recieving my entire final "gift", but that's because it's not stuff that can be done all in one day.
Suffice to say that in a month or so you will all be reading about my new instrument, stand, bag, possibly new mouthpiece, and maybe another goody here or there! But I'm not gonna give any clues to give it away too soon . . . you'll have to wait.
Alexi
PS - And please no sarcastic remarks about how you are all "so excited that you're virtually wetting your pants with anticipation of my information about my new setup!"
That I can do without.

Grape flavoured cork grease! Oh, I really wish I had that sitting beside my bed instead of my regular cork grease. That would have saved me the trouble of trying to get cork taste out of my mouth while still half asleep. Or maybe I should just turn the light on before looking for my lip chap.... possibly.

My daughter bought me a beautiful, grey wrought iron music stand, (the kind you keep out in the living room) with the following note on the tag:
"Where I live is a reflection of who I am and how I want to live. It is my home - an extension of my soul. It's where my spirit rests and plays. I share it with the people I love and that makes all the difference."
I asked for a Bonade Orchestral Excerpts, but I'll have to get that on my own. Now if Santa would only endow me with perfect scales, arpeggios, intonation, musicality, flexible dark and bright tone-on-demand, expressive sight reading ability, and the ability to artistically ad lib any tune in any key... well, maybe in celestial glory.

lol. I just looked at those clarinet doctor bags . . . I really don't think they fit my image. Instead I just bought a bag that was intended for a laptop, but is big enough clarinet case in.
Me being the bargain hunter though found it lowered from 45 dollars to 13 dollars during a week rebates and just before christmas. Made by Wegner (makers of swiss army knife and other swiss products). Very roomy, and comfortable.

I received a DVD writer for my PC so that I can save my clarinet playing for posterity, until the technology changes again...

I got 2 clarinet-related presents;
A CD of "The best of Acker Bilk" including Stranger on the Shore, which I've never possessed before despite its influence on my life and
A Bb clar. barrel made entirely from brass, something I've never seen in my life.
I'll report back on both when I've got used to them.

A clip-on (vibration) microphone for my tuner. Primarily to allow me to tune my bass clarinet in a noisy environment (as when everyone is warming up before band rehearsal).

No clarinet-related gifts, but...
Otto Link Tenor Sax mouthpiece - I assume the sax is following for my birthday on Saturday!
An Alto Sax pin.
2 Music Minus One books/CDs for Oboe: "Masterpieces for Woodwind Quintet" and "The Joy of Woodwind Quintets," which, I can assure you, would be far more joy-filled if I was playing the clarinet, rather than the oboe part!
Happy New Year, everyone!
