Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with this. I have been recording myself on my Sony Pro Walkman with a Sony mic and whenever I play in the altissimo register, I can hear the fundamental along with the high note when I listen to the tape. How do I get rid of this? My recording level is about 5 and the mic is probably about 4 or 5 feet away from me.

First you have to determine if the mic is lying - you might actually be producing the sound you're hearing on the recording since bone conduction overpowers air conduction when you're playing (patches lessen this). Have someone you trust listen to you and then the tape.
If the mike is lying, then you'll have to get a different mike; since I assume you're on a budget you'll have to audition a few inexpensive mikes to see if any are better.

I doubt whether the frequency range of the mike you are using is up to the task, likewise the recording medium.
