Does anyone know the value of this clarinet? It's at least 45 years old and made in France

The name is that of a French Statesman, early 1900s, premier 1906-9 and during WW I, 1917 +. The pics "appear" to be of a Boehm 17/6 cl, so if no more info is available, would "seem-to-be" prob. a "stencil" cl, and of little value. Any more markings?, playable?, if so, how good? Help, please, Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

It has the head of a tiger at the top. It has been completely overhauled and is of good tone.

Wasn't Clemenceau the president of France as well during the Vichy government?

Check it with a tuner, and if you like the tone, count yourself lucky to have found a good clarinet. If it's not in tune, is it at least in tune with itself (meaning are ALL the pitches slightly sharp?) maybe it can be fixed with a new barrel.

Ah!, Fr political history! G Clemenceau 1841-1929, known as the tiger, by his "polemical style", he played a key role in the Treaty of Versailles, [described by some as a cause of WW II]. Thats all the info I have. No relation to music known. Go to a library for more. Luck, Don

It's ok, I never really thought about it, but it does fit "BB"
