New Search Function

Mark -

Thanks for the new and improved search function, which covers several databases at once.

One glitch however -- when you do a search, you get a list of
"hits." When you go to a hit and then try to go back to the list, you get "page expired" error message, so you have to repeat the search.

Any cure?

I tried it last night. I was also wondering if there is still an option to choose whether you're searching the post subject, title or author anymore?

It still searches on those, but it is a composite (it searches on all text). To coordinate all the different databases required a change in format. I may be able to see if I can differentiate at a later date (in other words, it may be possible, but I have to make sure that things stay coherent).

I'll fix it to pop up a page rather than replace the search page (note: fixed).

There's still more to come (hits/page, date range, maybe a few other things). It's significantly faster than the old search mechanism and is totally offloaded to a dedicated machine.
