Which orchestral excerpts?

I am about to purchase the Bonade Orchestral Studies book. I notice there are a number of orchestral excerpt books for clarinet. For a level 4 to 5 out of 10 type student (adult) is the Bonade as good as any? I read that (some of?) these books have errors in them. Is this on the order of two wrong notes out of 5,254 notes?

Any advice on the best one to get?

The only one I have is the Bonade one, but it is absolutely wonderful. I got it many years ago, and now that I'm in college, it's the only one that the clarinet professor requires for her students.

This one does have some errors in it. Why these don't get corrected as new editions come out is beyond me. You or your professor should be able to hear where they are as you play what's written. Nice to know I wasn't hearing the Nutcracker's "Waltz of the Flowers" wrong all these years! That's just one example. I've written the corrections into my copy as we find them.

I just picked up a copy of the Bonade exerpts. Yes, there are errors, but my teacher said it's still a great book because he knows where they are, and some are apparent as you read through them. As Brenda states, who knows why they haven't been corrected. I look forward to working through the book.

Thanks, all. I just got a copy in the mail today that I bought off eBay. It's marked up from some teacher and student 7 years ago. I notice that there are corrections marked in it. I had intended to do a lot of erasing. Maybe I won't now.
