I have been working on the Stravinsky 3 pieces for the past couple of weeks or so. It may be a little too soon, but I have already tried recording myself playing the first movement. http://www.geocities.com/alomarvelous12/strav.mp3 I want to see if others can spot what the biggest problems or areas that need improving from this recording.
I have started working on the 2nd movement, and I could get to and nearly through the notes of the middle, low section, but having trouble getting it up to tempo. It should get down with time.
The third movement, however, seems a little too much at this point, and I'll probably put it back on the shelve for a few months before seriously attempting it.
The Stravinsky is a composition which I would like to learn well and is something I'd really like to have in my performing repertoire, so that's why I'm writing this post. Thanks, guys.

The real danger of the 2cd movement is going too fast...some players simply whip through the opening group of groups of 6 too quick. As to speed you will learn this piece best if you take your time and learn it note by note slowly.

Stravinsky rocks!
Good luck learning it, it's a wonderful piece. When I learned it, I also put it back on the shelf to let what I did absorb into my brain-it's so full of energy!
For the first movement, see if you can get a hold of a recording of the "Volga Boatmen's Song" it's an old folk tune that Stravinsky implied there.
IN the second movement, just make sure that you don't make it sound so divided, I know there's no time sig., but it's easy to let it bog down.
The strongest piece of advice I can give you, though, is TAKE YOUR TIME!!

The first movement is probably the hardest of the three because of phrasing or making musical sense out of it. You have a great start on the first movement. Your tone is pretty consisten. A couple of improvements to make. First: when holding long notes try not to adjust your embrochure in anyway. The intensity of the pitch should change from the air column, no facial muscles should be involved in the crescendo or dynamic change. Secondly: your tempo is great I would take just a little bit of more time with the breath marks. I was taught to treat them as small breaks in the phrase. Stravinsky is a great piece, one of my favorites
When working on the second movement it is imperative that you make it flow. The hardest part is leaping back and forth, it will take time to develop enough technique to play it at tempo.
The third movement takes a lot of energy and also time. Brez has the best words just "take your time" and everything should be alright. Your first movement sounds good.
