I just wanted to say thanks to all who put up with my posts in the recent days. I'm sure it got trying at times.
I also want to thank you folks for the helpful and insightful comments and suggestions. I didn't purchase the Pan Am Conn, thankfully. I feel sure that the Noblet 45 Artist I have coming will serve me well (though not a professional model, which I can't see I'll ever need though would love to have some day). And the Lefebvre clarinet topic (which turned into a big sink hole) was very significant in learning additional things of importance. Actually, for me it was a great learning experience.
So, thank you. And thanks for making me feel so much a part of this group already.

Hi Rev. Avery,
I came back to playing the clarinet after thirty years' absence. For a hundred dollars, I purchased an forty year-old Selmer CL 200 on eBay, had it repaded, and joined the local community band. This is a student horn, but it sounds great. Since then, I have bought a new Leblanc LX which has become my main clarinet, but I prefer to use the barrel that came with the old Selmer, rather than the Leblanc barrel. With the Selmer barrel, the horn has a less polished, more guttural sound in the chalumeau register (which I like).
What I am trying to say is that your 'intermediate' Noblet could turn out to be a great clarinet. After all, Noblet was making clarinets before Mozart was born.

Hey Rev.!
I liked your threads — it was like a detective story. Good luck with your clarinet(s) (hope the Lefebvre is a gem afterall).

Glad you liked the threads Elizabeth. It was beginning to wear me down.
But I must say it was fun. I learned a lot and met a lot of nice people in the discussions.

Glad we could help, Rev, its always a learning experience for all of us! It is amazing how much knowledge [and opinion] we [collectively] can apply to a question! Its like what we [here] have said many times about inventing, recognise a "problem" , find a solution, then investigate it's novelty and assess its potential as a patent. A goodly number of us have found LeBlanc's cls of the 50-80s, Classic, Dynamic, Symphonie, LL and the L series, Pete F etc models to keep us happy, Selmers of that vintage also for me. Lesser experience with Buffet and Yamaha! A suggestion, dont follow my lead, getting more cls than I have time to explore! Don
Thanx, Mark, Don
