 Firebird Variation trills
Author: Suzanne
Date:   2003-11-18 21:11

My teacher told me at my last lesson that all of the trills in Stravinsky's Firebird Suite--Variation should be half-step trills, even though not all are marked as such. I had never heard this before, and was wondering what others do with this excerpt.

The trills in this piece are clearly marked. Some are whole and some are half. Make sure you are looking at the actual part and not the excerpt book as the latter has many mistakes.

Suzanne...Your teacher is not correct.

The only excerpt book that has the correct /corrected version of The Firebird Variations (including discussion of the infamous measure 21) is Peter Hadcock's "The Working Clarinetist"...GBK

Lots of fake fingerings for this one, so look into getting the best and easiest trill fingerings that work with ease! Loads of fun this one...
