I am thinking about getting a Sumner mouthpiece. Are they any good? And are they professional quality? I just heard of some ppl playing on them ( I had heard of them, but never knew anyone that played on them). I don't know much about them, so any info would be good.
And who sells them? WWandBW, Weiner, and International Music doesn't sell them.
Thanks,

Sumner mouthpieces were made, I believe, in the Chicago area. Thay have not been produced for many years. Bob Black at the Saxophone Shop in Evanston has more details. I believe he still has some of the old Sumner blanks.

Well, would a Sumner be of better quality than VanDoren. I played a Sumner that seemed to compare with my VD M13. I'm just unsure if Sumners are known for having a better tone quality than VDs.

If the mouthpiece is readily available for (free) testing, why not test one?
If you're talking about considerable money (you define the limit), and no chance to return the mpc after a test drive...
...it's still just a piece of rubber with a hole down the middle.

I play the Vandoren M30, and didn't care for the predecessors in the line.
My teacher plays an M15 as her back up, and sounds tremendous.
One size most definitely does not fit all.

The mouthpiece is like a good fitting pair of track shoes... they won't make you faster, but they won't slow you down, either. No substitute exists for
'putting in the laps'.
