 Help! I don't know what I have.

Hello everyone, first time on here. I have a brass clarinet coated in silver with a wooden mouth piece. The name on the instrument is American Scholastic, University Model, serial number D57? , a four diget S/N. I thought that all Clarinets were either wood or plastic? My daughter plays and she said it has the keys of a standard Clarinet but mad of brass. I looked through the post, etc and find anything on it. Any help would be great! Thanks

I can't give you information on this specific model, but clarinets in the past have also been made of metal. From what I've read here before, some are of professional quality while most have been student models. With a name like American Scholastic, I would guess that this was a student model clarinet. But, basically, it doesn't matter what material a clarinet is made of. What does matter is the design and construction of the instrument.
