Between the LeBlanc Rhapsodie, priced @ $599, and a Buffet E12, priced at $950, which would you recommend?

Both are equally good clarinets ... if it were me, however, as I'm "tight" - I'd go for the Leblanc, why are you purchasing an intermediate level clarinet? I personally don't see the point in them.
I recommend you save you money and purchase an R-13, Concerto or similar professional level clarinet (I can't believe I typed R-13!?!) And before any jackass gets on his/her high horse - this is my opinion.

I personally agree with Diz pretty much all the way on this topic.
I'm assuming you really just want opinions and not what I am about to say, but either way- TRY THEM FOR YOURSELF.
Although I would go with the Leblanc, I am a Leblanc player and you might prefer the E12 and think the extra $351 is justified( although for that much a Buffet player should just get a used R13).
So yeah- try them.

Actually, my teacher thinks that I should purchase a new E12. I agree with you guys! But then again, I'm only in middle school and I'll probably only play until I'm out of high school, in five years. I don't know what will happen to my clarinet career after that...

In the same price range, Yamaha has some superior instruments.
The Buffet E13 is a superior instrument, the E12 is rather expensive for the features it offers.
I would suggest looking to second hand clarinets in the same price range... you could get a professional quality clarinet for this kind of money.

I would be interested to hear comments from anyone who has tried the rapsodie. How does it compare to the sonata or concerto?
