This is what they replied to me about the difference of 2RV and 5RV FYI.
Dear Mr. Nagatsuma,
Thank you for your message regarding Vandoren products. The 2RV and 5RV
mouthpieces are exactly the same. They had changed the name of the 2RV many
years ago, however both mouthpieces are still available. Some retailers may
only stock the 5RV since they are the same mouthpiece, but they are both
available. Yes, the RV does stand for Robert Van Doren.

How does the B45 rate amoung other intermediate mouthpieces and is it hard rubber or plastic. How does it compare with the V45??

I have a B45 VanDoren that I use for bass clar with a "Les Thimmig" facing so that I can use tenor sax reeds. I like the B45--nice sound, good response, etc.

I know its an old topic, but I have a question related to this one.
Does anyone know when did the Vandoren company stopped making 2RV? I ask this because it will be useful me to know how old is a particular 2RV mouthpiece.
I know there are 2 RVs with engraved logo. Are there2 RVs with hot stamped logo too? I need to know this because they made from different material.

Vandoren 2RV are still available. You can still get them on the auction site. (brand new and unopened).

Yes, they did make the stamped Vandoren 2RV version.

FWIW--I no longer use the B45 bass mouthpiece and have long since replaced it with a Walter Grabner CX_BS model on which I am playing some very nice prototype Forestone bass reeds. Just didn't want any misunderstandings because of the age of the original postings.
BTW--what ever happened to Dee?????

Dee is still around. I know her personally. Se is currently out in California on a contract engineering assignment. She got married a couple of years back to another good friend of mine. She still plays clarinet,but doesn't have a great deal of time to devote to the hobby at present. She went through some rough times, medically speaking, a couple of years back, but has recovered.
