Does anyone know who was selected in the auditions for the Richmond Symphony for 2nd clar/eflat. Is the present player going elsewhere?

This group has undergone quite a shake-up in the last couple of years, as you may remember from a thread here about a buy-out deal for some of its senior members. Both principal and asst. principal clarinetists opted to leave a year or so back, and their bass clarinetist left this past spring. This should be an interesting group to watch over the next few years, as they rebuild their section.

I don't remember his last name but his first name is Jared. He is an undergraduate student who has been studying with Russ Dagon. Imagine, all the work to study, lessons, and everything and winning a job. To make just over 32,000 dollars.

LeOpus: Thirty two grand isn't that bad. There are far more orchestras that pay a lot less. And if this guy is an undergrad, thats a heck of a job to get. Heck, even thirty two grand for working in a non-profit org aint that bad!

Currently, the position of Associate Principal Flute with the Sydney Symphony attracts a salary of approximately $90,000 (in US dollars $63,000). Not bad wages really, still a long way to go to match thier cousins in Boston and New York, however.

LeOpus-

Is his name Jared Davis? Jared is a great friend and a great clarinetist. I hope he did win that job.

I just had look at their website (at least I googled Virginia Symphony and got a link, unless there's two such beasts?). Very strangely, they have a clarinet image as part of their background art ... odd.

Ok but what becomes of the present 2nd clar. Is she no longer with the orchestra or is she going somewhere else? Like when Morales went to phl. where did the other guy go? it says he is away.

Do you know this for sure? And if so, how did you come to know this info?
