I recently heard a magnificent string quartet by BOLCOM, who is quite unknown in Europe.
I see he has written a Clarinet Concerto. Has anyone heard it/played it?
Does anyone know of other clarinet works by Bolcom?

Many thanks for the info.
The piece I heard was a string quartet consisting of 3 rags.
At the time I thought they would sound admirable played by a wind or clarinet quartet?

The cds available by he and his wife are also delightful.....though not clarinet oriented.

Isn't he also a renowned piano accompanist? I seem to recall him appearing on recordings in the 70's and 80's as an accompanist.

Yes, that's him - teachs at U-Mich - a really prolific and powerful songwriter. He and his wife Joan Morris have performed his songs extensively. He was a major player in the Ragtime revival of the late 1960's / early 1970's.

Thanks for her name. Although I know it as well as my own(!) I couldn't come up with it. Their cds of songs from the early 1900s are faves of mine...
