Hi,
My clarinet has gone for repairs and it may take a few weeks or even more than a month or so before i get to practise again. In this period what can i do to minimise the rate of slump when i resume again? Does anyone here have the same experience before?

Hope you've kept your mouthpiece and lig.
Suggest borrowing a friend's standby horn and at least you'll be able keep tongue and fingers sharp. Might even open up horizons on a different make of clarinet for experience.

Perhaps you could rent a clarinet for a month?

Since most alto cls are little used, see if you can beg/borrow/steal? one so as to both get acquainted with a family member and keep/improve? embouchure during the repair time. Don

Sounds like a good time to explore the saxophone, oboe or bassoon if you can get your hands on any of them. What do you call an alto clarinettist with a mobile phone? An optimist!

Well put, Mark P, I agree on other ww's. YES, I'm the real optimist, I have a church [free] gig coming for bass cl, if its across the break, I'll play it in my alto's chalameaux, easily/happily. Don
Thanx, Mark, Don
