The little piece of green yarn fell out from between the metal reed supports of my BG Super Revelation. Any suggestions on what to use to stick it back on? My first thought goes to Elmer's, but I'm a bit antsy about whether that will ruin the sound.

It's already too late.
Given the rare, and unobtainable elastomers BG uses to affix their long Yak wool fibers (always taken from the Eastern facing side of the Yak) it is beyond the reach of mere mortals to repair your ligature.

Use a bit of glue from a hot glue gun...GBK (not a fan of BG ligatures due to their tendency to slip off of the mouthpiece)

what is the point of the yarn? I thought it ws just "decorative colors" to make the revelation and super revelation look different... Do it serve some sort of acoustic purpose??

I'm not sure what you mean.... I just meant that I always thought the little piece of yarn (cord, thread, I'm not sure what it is!) that is between the rails on the ligature was decorative or used to distinguish between the two models: Revelation and Super Revelation. I thought this because the two models each have a different color yarn
I was just curious if this was meant to have some affect on the sound as well (and if so, why do they attach it so poorly - I've had 2 Super Revelations and both times the yarn fell out quite soon after I opened it!) I prefer the BG traditional anyway, but I'm now curious about the Rev/Super Rev and whether the yarn is supposed to make a sound difference. Even more importantly, if so, how does the color of the yarn affect the sound?!?!?! = )

The string insert has a marked effect on tone colour. Red or green.
They're also rumoured to be releasing a Blues version next year.

My section partner bought one recently and fidgets with it all the time. I added to his concern by mentioning that yarn thing.

BobD...Maybe you should also mention to your section partner that the BG ligatures often slip off the mouthpiece (at the worst possible time) when changing mouthpieces between clarinets. Usually during a concert.
Give him/her more to worry about ...GBK

When I had the BG super revelation, the sides always came unglued and the whole thing warped. I think I might have tightened it too much, but I have a rovner that I majorly abuse and it's held up marvelously. Between the ungluing sides and the yarn falling out (twice) I think the BG is way to fragile for me.
Rovners may have their problems, but any ligature you can step on and it won't break is okay in my book!
