 Joseph Downing

This isn't strictly a clarinet question, but ever since I played the Joseph Downing Symphony for Winds and Percussion I haven't been able to get it out of my head. I've been taking composition for about a year, and I would love to be able to write like that. I was wondering if anyone knows the piece, and could tell me of some other pieces in the same genre or style, or anything about how to write like that. My composition teacher doesn't know the piece. Any help would be appreciated!

Anyone who can hear screams, can also hear music.
