Is it worth repadding etc this old clarinet.
It is wood with no splits I am a beginner so would this be a better horn than an old plastic one.

I'm not familiar with the Raymond, but its good t have an extra clarinet around the house for back up, etc. As for the wood, keep in mind that there have been good, fair and total clunkers made in wood, plastic, and metal. How ever I would have it checked out and redone. Even some of the old clunkers can be fine tuned into better instruments just by experimenting with key/pad heigths, some the manufactures didn't spend too much time on when mass producing some of these old licorice sticks. You use this old horn to teach your self how do pads,corks, regulation of keys etc. You can learn a lot from your old horn.
