Dear Mark,
I thought I'd put my first message on the BBoard last night, but on checking the Board today it's not there. It's probably something I've done or forgotten to do - I'm not all that competent with computers, I'm afraid. Any idea what it might be?
Regards, Jo

I suppose as this one arrived OK I've got the idea now - but I'd still like to know what could have happened to yesterday's one!

Might've just been a computer glitch, or maybe you just forgot a step. Usually if a message is removed because of a rules violation, the mods will leave the message but delete the text with an explanation of why it was removed.
Anyway, you did this one correctly.

Jokes aside, I sometimes push the "preview" button instead of "post."

In answer to William's question, I didn't actually have a question yesterday - I was just writing to introduce myself as I've seen other people do here. So should I a) write it again or b) not?!

OK - to put it briefly, I've taught piano and recorders for about 20 years and have for ages been very involved in the recorder scene - do lots of one-to-a-part playing etc which I thoroughly enjoy.
A couple of years ago I was buying music for pupils and noticed a lonely ex-student-rental clarinet in a glass case in the shop. It very plainly (and plaintively) asked me to buy it, so I had to!! Since then I've really fallen for the clarinet in a big way - I really love to play and can't wait to do my practice each day.
I've now upgraded to a Peter Eaton Elite and am taking my ABRSM Grade 7 exam tomorrow - wish me luck!!

Thanks for your good wishes, Elizabeth! The ABRSM is the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music - one of the main examining boards in England.
Hope your playing goes well and that your new clarinet proves good. This Clarinet BBoard is brilliant, isn't it?

Don't know what happened to your message, Joanna. The main thing is that you've introduced yourself and you're among friends. Best wishes for all your music making ventures, adventures, and just plain ol' tootin' fun.

Yes good luck Jo, from north of the border ! Not too many of us playing Peter Eatons up here but we all love 'em even though they're one of the heaviest instruments about. Hope you enjoy the BBoard.

Hey Joanne,
Let us know how it went. And could you tell us what it is like to play on a Peter Eaton?
Cheers,
Elizabeth

The examiner's just left after a whole day's examining here-I had lots of pupils doing piano, recorder and musicianship exams as well as my own one. I don't think I'll have got more than just an adequate pass actually (I should have put some whisky in his morning coffee to cloud his judgement!!).
First piece went fine in the slow mvt but a bit dodgy in the runs in the fast mvt(Tartini mvts 3and4). Second piece, which I really like (1st mvt of Graham Lyons Sonata) and usually play quite well, went by in a hideous blur of wrong notes and fluffed bits - though strangely enough I wasn't feeling panicky or anything - it was just calmly WRONG! Third piece (James Rae "Hard Rock Blues" went OK, as did scales and aural. Sight reading OK except I didn't do some of the articulation as printed.
Just have to wait for the result now.....
In reply to your question, Elizabeth,I really like my clarinet but I haven't had the opportunity to play on any others except my first Yamaha student one, so I can't compare with any other makes, sorry!

Hi Joanna,
It sounds like you should give yourself a pat on the back anyway for going through all that. It can't be easy looking after your students and going in for an exam yourself. I don't know any of the pieces but I'm sure they sounded better than you thought (pain, isn't it, when a piece you like doesn't come out right). Sight reading I've always found difficult. Whiskey in the examiner's coffee would have put a rosey glow on things! Something to remember for next time.
Good luck with the results,
Elizabeth
