I've seen lots of wooden clarinets listed and talked about. Are they all made from grenadilla wood?? Does anyone know, were Noblet 40's ever made from rosewood? Mine is from the 70's, and I distinctly remember being told it was rosewood - was someone yanking my chain??
Also, does anyone ever use a Portnoy mouthpiece anymore???

While I could be wrong, I doubt that the Noblet 40 was ever made of rosewood. It is a nice instrument but it is Leblanc's low end intermediate (i.e. on the same level as the Buffet E-11).
Many people simply have no idea what their clarinet is made of. So they just pick what they think may be right and go with that. There's probably no intent to deceive. You would be amazed at the number of instruments listed on eBay as "rosewood" that would not have been (some Pan Americans come to mind here). It's like the metal horns listed on eBay. You'ld be surprised at how many entry level student horns are described as "silver". The seller just flat doesn't know.
