When I worked for an oil and chemical conglomerate, there was a fellow down the hall from me whose job included reading the daily newspapers and clipping any articles that might be relevant to our business.
I am wondering if the major clarinet manufacturers do anything similar; e.g., read this BB to find out what people think of their products and use the information to guide changes in product or policy. It seems like a "no brainer" that this would be the first place anyone in the business would visit for information, but maybe I'm overlooking something?
I also wonder why the "big four" have not become BB sponsors.

hans...I'm not sure about the "Big 4", but certainly (from talking with them personally) many of the accessory sponsors (reeds, mouthpieces, etc...) of this site certainly do and have responded to specific inquiries and discussion of their products on the bulletin board.

However, for them it is always a fine line between responding on-line and self promotion. Often difficult to do...GBK
