Is there any truth to the rumor that the person who recently went over Niagara falls and is charged with "illegally performing a stunt" will use as his defense: "I dropped my only good clarinet reed in the river and was just trying to get it back."?

No -- he's going to claim that he dropped his Kaspar mouthpiece into the drink and he had been planning to sell it and retire on the profits.

Could someone explain to me what a Kaspar mouthpiece is? there seems to be a lot of hype about them and by what David Spiegelthal said, they run quite a bit. maybe i just havent been around the clarinet block enough. thanks for the info.
