I really like my Optimum ligature---but I hate dealing with silver tarnish. I haven't found a method I like to remove the tarnish, and it diminishes my "ligature use experience." I've reached the point that I just ordered an inverted Bonade ligature ( I'm hoping its nickel, not silver). Are there any support groups for others with the same problem?
Thanks!

The Optimum comes with a special protective bag to keep the silver from tarnishing. The ligature is supposed to be kept in this bag at all times when storing your equipment. Similar material is used to wrap clarinets with silver keys. I've used the Optimum for over a year and it still looks like it did when it was purchased, but I've been meticulous about storing it inside this bag.

I don't even use the bag, although I was advised to when I bought the ligature, and I don't have a tarnish problem after at least 5? (I've lost track) years. Maybe there is something in your case, like a rubber band, that is reacting with the silver? Or something in the environment?
