Hello,
I am thinking about selling my old buffet R-13 Bb clarinet. I'm not sure yet since I love it but I have 2 Bb clarinets for a few years now and I think I can sell one of them. It is in very good condition. A few pads and corks were replaced a few weeks ago. All the pads work very well. The only problem is the barrel - It has 2 cracks. The cracks were fixed and in my opinion the sound is the same as before they were even cracked. The clarinet was manufactured in 1992. How much do you think I can ask for it?
If you think there's is more information I need to add to help you answer my question tell me please.
Thank you very much.

Although the cracked bbl. may not be detrimental to the playability prospective buyers will be turned-off by it. ......so $850 might be a reasonable expectation.

Actually I suggest keeping it. That way if the one you play regularly goes in the shop, you've got a good backup to use in the meantime.

I like Dee's idea. However is two really enough? If I were worried about a clarinet in the shop I'd probably have at LEAST fourteen R-13's. And maybe a few A clarinets including the Amati FB A clarinet.
Hmmmmm . . . . . .

sfalexi, c'mon, don't joke with me, only ONE among us seriously has that...
Clarnibass, I just sold my R13, it was 4 years old, manufactured in 1992 however I purchased it in 1999. No cracks with cork and leather pads, for US$1260 (AU$1800). I still don't know if the buyer was ripped off or got a bargain, but that's how much money I needed, so that's how much I asked. A mother bought it for her child who is just turning 15 and fairly advanced for her age. She was a very nice girl and obviously really appreciated the upgrade from her old plastic instrument, so I didn't mind letting my 'baby' go to a great home!
