 LeBlanc A Supplies

Hi guys
I've paid for a pair of LeBlanc Concertos at a store here, but the A is 'backordered'. They don't have much of an idea when it'll come in, or what's going on and why it's taking so long. I've been waiting almost a month, and it's a long time to wait for something when you've actually paid for it in full.

Does ANYONE have ANY information of the availablility of LeBlanc Concerto A's, or know anything about how the store may be able to get some in quickly that I could suggest to them?
They reckon the factory workers are on summer holiday and as soon as production starts again... But I can't help but laugh at that!

Thanks everyone. Appreciated.

There is a shortage of any A's out of Leblanc at the moment. They are advising 60 days+ for Esprits and Concertos and then no guarantees. Something to do with the fire a while back evidently.

For the record, when I visited the LeBlanc facility in Kenosha in the early 90's, there was also a "shortage" of Concerto A clarinets. I had a hundred Bb instruments to choose from, but only a few A clarinets. Tom Ridenour had no explanation other than "they are going out as fast as we get them". Who really knows what goes on behind corporate doors, but economics is probably more in play than musical art. Let's face it, if they were not making money, they probably would not be making any instruments. The "beat" goes on...............

BTW, the fire affected the Noblet factory which is totally separate from the LeBlanc facility.

I don't know if this can be done or not, but I should ask anyway.
If there is another store that actually had any A's in stock, could they strike some deal with them?

Thanks for the info too guys, very helpful, but not very inspiring...!

I know it isn't any consolation to you but a couple of years ago I contacted all of the big stores in the UK to try to get hold of an Opus Eb. It took over 12 months before there was one available by which time I'd found, fallen in love with and purchased my Selmer!

Hi All,
I'd like to give an update on Leblanc clarinet supplies, if Mark doesn't mind. First of all, the factory fire was indeed at what is now the Leblanc factory in France. This factory makes Noblet and Leblanc wood clarinets. Noblet is owned by Leblanc. We are making progress at catching up from the fire.
Mark, I am trying to do this without sounding commercial! We have put some processes into place to insure quality, and the delay will only mean improvement. (The delay is partly my fault, as I want quality over speed.) We are just getting clarinets in from France, and I just released a batch of A clarinets. I suspect you will have your soon. Hope you like it!

Julie, I am overwhelmingly happy that the factory is churing out quality, not quantity, which is one of the major reasons I chose to purchase LeBlanc instruments. For this reason, now that I know what's going on, I don't mind the wait if I know that what I'm getting is of high quality. I knew it would be anyway, judging by the exceptional quality of my Bb!

Thank you so much for your help, and ensure the nicest Concerto A's come out to Australia! Hehe.
