Anybody with any info on Pleyel and his Concerto?

so I've just discovered a fantastic piece of work that I'm absolutely hooked on - and if you haven't been following the other thread - the Ignaz Pleyel Clarinet Concerto in Bb Major.

I'm going to place in an order for the score, and probably will soon get a recording of it as well, but I'm completely shocked at the lack of information on the web available on it. When I first heard it, I thought it had the makings to be one of the top gems in the repertoire, and I had assumed it was probably Stamitz until it ended and the radio host announced what it was. But I was to find out that it was just some relative unknown work and very infrequently performed.

Well after researching through all the major search engines this weekend, I came up with nothing but a 2 paragraph biography on Pleyel. Everything else was about his piano company and his opus 8 violin works. The only clarinet related stuff from him were the duets. I don't think the Bb concerto has been ever discussed in detail here on this board and it has only appeared in around 2 or 3 threads in the Klarinet. I also don't think there is any MIDI file of the concerto anywhere on the internet, and I would really like to get hold of one before I get my copy of the score and recording.

I'd appreciate if anyone knows of any resources...

The Concerto in Bb by Pleyel (Ben. 104) was not originally written for clarinet. It first was the Cello Concerto in C major (written 1788/1789), but was later was published in many arrangements for different solo instruments (including the clarinet).

It is thought that the clarinet version was done either for Franz Tausch or Joseph Beer...GBK

There is a good article in the September 2003 edition of "The Clarinet" published by the International Clarinet Society.

Actually it's published by the International Clarinet Association (http://www.clarinet.org).
