Bought em.
Were back ordered.
Finally arrived.
An...ti....cip...a...shun... (best imitation of line from Rocky Horror Pic. Show I could muster in print)
Packaged like box of classy imported cigarettes, jewelry, or box for Flacon of perfume.
An inner package peels open like a single serving pudding.
Shaped like Gonzalez, not file cut.
Performance out of the box, you ask? Feh, I reply.
Maybe...just maybe...they will improve and break in ok. Here's hoping, but for now....
Two words come to mind:
MARKETING HYPE
(Legalese.....I have NO connection with any reed manufacturer nor merchant. The above is MY OPINION and is NOT an indictment of any product, expressed or implied. Performance may vary)

I'm still waiting for a positive response to these reeds... What does that say about them?!

"I'm still waiting for a positive response to these reeds... What does that say about them?!"
They are a) too new b) many have not tried them yet c) it takes a while to settle in and know the playing characteristics of new equipment
At this point there are more different brands and styles of reeds on the market than ever. If Vandoren does not work for you don't play them.

We are still waiting for them. Vandoren managed to ship out a few boxes of ZZ Sax reeds but all were harder than 3's and only alto and tenor. I assume the 56's are the clarinet equivalent of the ZZ's ie. a price gouge of some sort.

I am the original poster....I tried all the reeds in the box, selected the best over the course of 36 hrs or so and retried them. I found 3 fair to good candidates for use, one of which is good-excellent. The remainder are well balanced but not very vibratory as yet.
I am still in the process of breaking the others in. I will admit that they seem better over time, but still not quite up to snuff for now. If some of the reeds perk up with use, I will select them out and see how they do.
