 Flute, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet Trio
Author: vcmfbc

We are currently trying to organize a small wind ensemble. Preferably a Flute, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet trio. We have the facilities to transpose pieces if needed. Does anyone out there have any suggestions for pieces that we could look at? Any ideas are welcome.

thanks!

Rubank's trios for Woodwinds Vol.2 will fit your instrumentation, I believe. Also, there are a number of flexible woodwind trios arranged by Bill Holcombe available from Musicians Publications. Look for them at http://www.windmusicplus.com

The Holcome stuff is terrific!

Best make sure your flute player is really up to the task.

Getting a good blend, at higher volumes, without that hammer-drill effect...
that's a challenge!

My band director is forever keeping our wind section in check, so as not to ride over whatever the band is playing.

If you play quietly, an audience may actually pay attention.

Our intended audiences would be church services, weddings, and gigs around the city. One of our goals is to lay a wide variety of music. On October 25th, we're playing at a church for couples planning their weddings to hear different ensembles they can hire to play on their wedding day. Anyone know of any good music to fit that type of occasion?

We did look into the Wind Music Plus and they look like they have some great stuff so we're gonna try some out. We're still open for any ideas any of you may have.

Thanks!

There's lots of reed trio music (oboe, cl, bsn). The flute can play the oboe part and the bass cl. can transpose the bsn part.

Very good advice.

French XXe reed trios,
Mozart Divertimenti and operas adaptations,
Beethoven "La Ci Darem" and trio
