Well, I've been trying to find out what model R13 I have. It used to be my grandfather's (Hobart Grimes) clarinet until his death in the mid 80's. It has 7 rings and 18 keys. The serial number on it dates it to 1962 (74xxx).
Basically it's an R13 with articulated C#/G#. My repair tech says it's a "Pete Fountain" model. I've searched through Google trying to find info on it and I've searched the board. Both avenues pulled up no helpful information.
Does anyone have any recordings with Hobart Grimes on it? If you do, could you please contact me through email. He played with the Paul Severson Septet, Caesar Petrillo's CBS Orchestra, Larry Taylor's Supper Club, and the Mike Simpson Orchestra to name a few of the groups he was part of. He performed from 1936 (earliest recording that I have) through his death in the 80's. I also tried Googling his name and found only information I already knew.
Thanks,
pat

That's an interesting website to read through, but be warned that the information supplied - even by B&H moderators - is often misguided.
misguided - mis-guid'-ed - a polite word for downright wrong.

The Boosey & Hawkes "forum" is (as Fred put it much more nicely than I will) a crock.....most of the "information" put out by the moderator is nothing more than marketing verbiage. I sent them a reply to a question about a B&H 8-10 model -- there was a less-than-complimentary sentence in my posting regarding B&H's metallurgy --- my note never got published (gee, what a surprise.....)
