 Buffet Barrels on Leblanc clarinets

Has anyone tried Chadash or Moennig barrels on any Leblanc Bb clarinet and had any success with them? (better response and intonation than the Leblanc stock barrels?)

Will there be a problem with the tuning caused by the barrels made specially for Buffet clarinets?

I need to get a replacement barrel and was wondering if Chadash or moennig barrels may be better than the Leblanc barrels.

My teacher plays Leblanc Opus' and uses Chadash barrels quite successfully.

Hi,

I am using a Moennig barrel on an older LeBlanc Dynamic 2. Seems to work fine with a nice centered tone. I have a slight problem with A5, B5, and C6 being about 10 cents too high without this or a Robert Scott aa2 barre. While I have not measured the barrels, both a reverse taper I believe.

I'm pretty much a believr that a barrel is a barrel. If it works for you, use it. While saying that one is truly a significant amount better than another, I don't think I have quite that good an ear or ever will.

Ok thanks...

So should I get the same length barrel as the Leblanc one? Or will different barrels have a significantly lower or higher tuning due to the different shape of the bore?

I had some good results using a Chadash A barrel on my Concerto A, but it didn't seem to help the Bb. My Moennig barrel does not work on my Concertos, but does wonders for my Buffet A.

However, for the record, I am currently playng on original LeBlanc barrels while my Chadash is resting "in the wings".

Basic rule--if it improves your performance, use it! You just have to search and experiment.

While I am hunting for a new R-13 A clarinet i have put my chadash barrel on my A clarinet and have had great results. If it works use it.

Well said, D D, having had a pleasant month in So. Germany, not far from Munchen. a few years ago, I'm still trying to find among our "Americanized" DE beers, one as good as Furstenberg [as I recall], however the Hofbrau's was OK too! However Heineken is almost as good as a British bitters. Makes us play better and longer on our cl/saxes, doesn't it, Mark? Don

Thanx, Mark, Don
