I'm working in Finale 2002. I don't really have a lot of experience in it even though I've had it a while.
What I'm trying to do is to lock 2 staves together for oboe (transposed) and clarinet so that when I export the parts to create the multi-measure rests they will still be on the same page (looking similar to a piano part). This gives me the ability to glance between the two parts and easily see where I need to switch. I know that it needs to be done at the beginning when I'm setting up a new piece of music. I'm not finding how to do it in the online help or the book.
If anyone can offer some advice or a push in the right direction, I would surely appreciate it.

Finale's PDF Manual is excellent ... I find, however, I often need to be a little lateral when looking up the index ... try typing rest or consolidated rest (can't remember). Finale's reminds of Everst ... few people ever get to scale its heights ... I'm just schlepping around the foothills, personally.

I know how to do the multimeasure rests, it's getting the 2 staff lines to stay together and not separate to 2 pages because of being different parts.
For now I may end up just transposing the oboe parts and learn the rest later when my usual mentor for this kind of thing is back in town.
Thanks though, Diz. I do like what help there is in the PDF manual. Wish I could just ask it a question though!

Might be as simple as grouping them ... try Grouping Staves in the Index, perhaps.

Go to the staff tool. Select the two staves you want to connect. Then go up to the staff menu and select "add group and bracket". This will group the clarinet and oboe part and finale will name it Group 1, or 2. Then when you do the extract part from the file menu, select the Group name and Finale will extract those two parts together. I am using Finale 2004, but I think 2002 does it the same way. Good luck!
